Major: Reformation History and Theology [dissertation, "The Soteriology of the English General Baptists to 1630."] The doctoral program included resident study at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary under Dr. William R. Estep, Jr. who served as my dissertation external reader.

Major: Historical Theology [thesis project, "A Survey of American Church History"], which received the Charles Nash Award in church history.

Experience

    2001-2013--The Chapel on the Campus [Baton Rouge, LA]--Executive Pastor

A congregation of 1500+ adults meeting in two locations (LSU Campus and The Oaks). We have a staff of over 30 full time and part time positions. Additionally we have a large international and college ministry. I led the staff, served as a member of the teaching pastor team, management team and Board of Elders.

    1996-2000--Cape Bible Chapel [Cape Girardeau, MO]--Pastoral Staff, Elder

A congregation of 1000 adults, 4 full time staff, 7 missionaries. Responsibilities included overseeing church ministries and the church office, work with leadership boards, coordinate the pastoral team, teach and perform other pastoral duties. We raised funds for and completed a $2.4 million, 1,100 seat Worship Center, Family Center and future educational space. I also developed the church's web page.

    1995-1998-St. Petersburg Theological Seminary [St. Petersburg, FL]--Assistant Professor

Courses have included Church History, Cults and the New Age Movement, Bible Study Methods, Homiletics, Church Leadership and Administration.

    1995-1996--Clearwater Community Church [Palm Harbor, FL]--Adult Ministries

Assisted the senior pastor, a long time friend, adjust to their numerical growth and expansion to a multiple staff ministry.

    1990-1995--Christ Community Church [Tampa, FL]--Senior Pastor

A congregation of 500 adults, 3 1/2 full time ministerial staff, 31 missionaries, varied programs and ministries. I served as the second pastor in the church's 30 year history. I led the church through the hurt that resulted from the previous pastor's resignation and a difficult interim period. We established a healthier financial base, expanded our ministries, improved our facilities, improved accountability with our missionary family, and enhanced our music ministry.

    1992-1996 --Dallas Theological Seminary, Tampa Extension -- Adjunct Faculty

Courses have included church history and pastoral counseling. Have also conducted training for counselors in use of the Taylor-Johnson Temperament Analysis test.

    1980-1990--Northwest Bible Church [Dallas, TX]--Minister to Singles, Executive Pastor

A church of 2500 adults, 15 full time ministerial staff. Served as Minister to Singles [1000 singles] for 5 years prior to becoming Executive Pastor [overseeing the ministerial staff and ministries]. In addition to these responsibilities, during a 18 month pastoral search I filled the responsibilities of the Sr. Pastor (except filling the pulpit). I worked with the incoming pastor for a year before pursuing a senior pastorate.

    1976-1978--Community Bible Church [Acworth, GA]--Minister of Education

A church of 100 adults, 2 full time pastoral staff. I was responsible for the education and evangelism ministries of the church. I left to pursue doctoral studies.
